I got a site which compares different Stuttering / Fluency / Speak Easy Devices - http://www.casafuturatech.com/Catalog/features.shtml

However, the prices of all of them are quite high. I can buy a latest Mobile phone with megapixel camera and mp3 player by 100 to 300 pounds (200 to 600 US Dollars). Why on this earth these devices cost 2000 to 5000 US Dollars?!

Is there any good device with a reasonable price?

Best,

Sara,

Yes, I believe the price for the SpeechEasy is way too high. That is why I waited for the State of California Disability Program to pay for mine. It took about a year, but it was a heck of a lot better than paying more than 4000 dollars. I don't know if there is any such program where you live. If you have any questions my Speech Pathologist is Nancy Barcal and has been wonderful. She has been in the business for many years and is incredibly helpful and is a wonderful person as well. Has made my life much easier. This is her email nbarcal@surewest.net. She may even join the group if you invite her.

I started off with a pager ,i then moved onto a mobile phone .
I hated any kind of phone and would have a panic attack if 1 rung .
Its about removing your fear of them .
Your fluency can be improved by not being bothered and ignoring your stutter ?
thats just my way of thinking but it has really helped me .
Take care

Thanks Johnny, your suggestions are really helpful! I remember your other suggestion, "look into the eyes" of the other person.

My husband and son both stutter.  They both have the speech easy device.  My husband's was paid for using different funds: including the local (state) workforce commission grant, a grant from the local phone company (as a tool to allow him to use the phone), and donations.  My son's was paid for through the local school special education department (speech division) because he had an awesome speech therapist at the school that insisted he get it.  The school paid for the whole thing.

Hi Lynn and others,
Is there any such program to support Speech easy devices in the UK? I mean, does NHS or any other organization provide fund for getting such a device?

hi, yes i bought the speach easy device about 8 years ago, the device does work actaully. well the downside, you sound weird LOL, people ask you what is that thing in your ear? its a hearing aid. LOL. and it really expensive, the one thing that you should know before getting it, is it does not include the speech therapist fee of $300 dollars. well it was 8 years ago, that was a fun time.

Hi, Yes there is the device Called StutterFree. It works with your Vocal Tone and is really a device that
helps,or should I say almost cures your stuttering. It is very easy to use. Not like those echoe
devices that us DAF as there main backup. They charge under 900 bucks. They are very good in
helping also. It is a device that has been on the web for about a year now,but nobody knows
about them. The device is great. Everyone should atleast look them up. StutterFree it is called.

This device called StutterFree is very Affordable at under 800 USD
and it works with your Vocal tone. You can use it out in the noisy
world with no problem. It also works very good. Check it out at
their web-site.
